“I’ve always considered myself to be, basically, a lucky person.” I was reminded by a friend that I finished this one over the summer and never posted about it. I’m a huge Tana French fan and this book got mixed reviews. I loved it. This was part thriller, part mystery, and part family drama. The story was like a dark layered dream where nothing could be trusted, especially luck.
I’d recommend The Witch Elm for fans of Tana French, unreliable narrators, and twisty slow burns filled with imperfect people and family tension. Pair with casserole, rich with herbs and full of big hearty chunks of beef and potato and carrot
