The Marsh King's Daughter

July 6, 2017

I read this book in two days. I couldn’t put it down. The Marsh King's Daughter by Karen Dionne has everything: abduction, fear, danger, suspense, belonging, isolation, hunter, prey and survival (and I mean literal survival off the land with berries and animal meat and hides and bear fat). You'll wonder why you sometimes feel disdain for the victims and sympathy for the aggressors, but you will never second guess your decision to read this amazing book. If you like suspenseful stories about survival and how environment shapes your life, you will love this book.  Bonus: it is only 300 pages, it’s a fast read that has you guessing and interested all the way until the end.

Best Drink Pairing: Jam Collins. You will know why once you dive in, and the suspense will have you Jamming your own Collins right to the edge of your seat. So make it a stiff one!
