Y'all if I had to recommend one book for summer it would be this one. Because The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is the quintessential beach book, the book to read when you are indulgently sitting in a chair sunbathing with the constant sound of surf in the background.
I loved the sexy cover art and the Old Hollywood setting and the Marilyn Monroe-esque main character. Mostly I loved all the things that Taylor Jenkins Reid made me question more deeply than I ever have—sexuality, media, the price of privilege—with this charming and funny and highly entertaining story of hers.
One True Loves is the first Taylor Jenkins Reid novel I read. The Seven Husbands of Evelyn Hugo is the second, and I can’t wait to read more of her work.
Best paired with Dom Perignon.
